Bhoomika about her marriage

AT a time when sizzling sirens are clamouring for roles in the world of cutthroat competition, she stays composed and selfassured. After seven years in filmdom, and 24 movies in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, Bhoomika Chawla is content. Hyderabad Times caught her in a candid mood as she took a break from the sets of Telugu movie

Sathyabhama.

I started my film career with Telugu and would love to work here as long as possible. For me, work is fun, and that’s it. No language barriers,” says Bhoomika. She believes that every film industry has its advantages. “Bollywood movies will give you wider exposure and global reach. Moreover, they are making more and more experimental movies where you get excellent opportunities to perform,” says the actor who won rave reviews for her performance in Tere Naam.

She believes that her unassuming appearance has nothing do with the success of her movies. “Glamorous looks attract many, but, simplicity gives an altogether different appeal,” says the actress who acted with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan.

She has another movie with the Big B lined up, “I imagined that I was acting with just another actor. It helped me keep away from nervousness. Had I thought that I was working with Amitji, I would have been definitely on edge,” smiles Bhoomika. She finds herself at ease with all the big Telugu actors.

“I have acted with almost all the super stars in Telugu films including Chiranjeevi, Balakrisha, Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, NTR Jr, Sumanth, Pavan Kalyan and Ravi Teja.
They are all very comfortable to work with”, she says.

The lady maybe easy-going, but she is very choosy about her projects. “I don’t want to deliver bad performances. Movies are like food. If you don’t give wholesome food, people can’t digest,” she says. From the household of army personnel, her journey to glamour villa was not quite accidental. “Even in my childhood, I wanted to be famous one day. I was not certain in which field. Perhaps acting was there deep in my subconscious mind. Like any other aspirant, I too had my portfolio made and approached directors and producers,” says the self-effacing actors.

Hyderabad is of course her preferred destination. “You ask anybody in Mumbai, they will vouch for my love of Hyderabad. I leave all the stress behind in Mumbai and fly down to Hyderabad. It’s my dream to buy a house in this city. I’m waiting for the prices to come down,” says Bhoomika.

Is marriage on the cards? “Certainly. But not immediately.” And the Prince charming? “I’m leaving it to your guess,” Bhoomika turns coy.
